“Mexican Spiral Staircase” – Broken ceramic tile from Mexico

I was commissioned to create a mosaic spiral staircase for a client that was to blend with the eclectic decor in their home.  The owner and I worked together on this staircase that leads to their loft reading area.  They put a lot of time in transforming the black sheetmetal into copper with a beautiful green patina.  Next, I went to work covering the risers and treads with cement board and then created a unique broken tile mosaic on each of the 11 steps. It is a great view from the top of the staircase and blends so well with their home.
