Rainbow Reflections

2014

“Rainbow Reflections” – Ceramic tile, mirror, 36” diameter

Designed and created by Rochelle Rose-Schueler of Wild Rose Artworks

Physical color in the environment affects our moods, relationships, and wellbeing.  As a tool for healing, color can be gazed at, beamed as healing light, meditated on, worn, or used in art.  The colors one wears and sees in their environments have a huge effect on moods, actions, and mental emotional states of being.  Color can be used as a tool to create wellness and contentment, to incite passion or anger, to calm and soothe, or to express frivolity or seriousness.  Marketing experts, psychologists, advertisers and designers have long used color to affect you directly.

This is one of my large-scale mirrors in a series.  In this mosaic, I was playing with the theme of color and how it affects peoples’ moods.  In this mosaic mirror, I used an intentional laying pattern that created color rings to attract the viewer, give them something to gaze at, and mesmerize them.   With this mosaic, I was trying to evoke the beauty and energy of the colors in the rainbows of the Hawaiian Islands.
